Wade Elementary School was built in 1936 and served the communities needs until the late 1990′s. In 2010 the Wade School was listed as one of Nashville’s nine most threatened historic places. Since then, the Wade School was purchased by MillarRich, a community based organization that provides services for individuals with special needs. They currently provide in-home care throughout the Middle Tennessee area and also support individuals with day and employment services.
MillarRich renovated the school and now uses it as office space. On top of saving and utilizing this beautiful historic building, MillarRich has started a nonprofit farm called Old School Farm
.org). The on site farm will not only grow sustainable food but will also provide adults with special needs an opportunity for hands on training.
Old School Farm is hosting a fundraiser on March 8. The event is sure to be a grand time with square dancing, cake walk, silent action and local brew.
